Professor Michael Matthay

Professor Matthay graduated from Harvard (A.B.) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.D.). Following Fellowships at the University of Colorado and the University of California, he has held progressively senior clinical positions at the University of California, San Francisco, culminating in his current title as Professor in Residence for Medicine and Anesthesia.

He has won numerous US and International honors and awards and is a recognized expert in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He is an author of over 700 peer-reviewed publications.

Among many other memberships and service to professional organizations, he has been Chairman of the American Thoracic Society and Chair, Respiratory Section of the American Physiologic Society
