Dr. Bhatia has extensive experience in drug development as well as medical and device research across multiple therapeutic areas. He has served on the advisory boards or the board of directors of private and public pharmaceutical companies across the globe. His background in both medicine and business is a unique asset for boards on which he serves.
Dr. Bhatia is a founding member of a mid-capital investment firm, and manages a portfolio of healthcare device and pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. and in Asia. He has served as principle investigator on Phase II, III and IV clinical studies across multiple disciplines, and has experience in interacting with the U.S. FDA He also serves as a business development advisor to a number of public and private pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Bhatia is the chairman of the Department of Dermatology at DuPage Medical Group, a 500+ physician-directed medical group. There, he also founded the Department of Clinical Research, which now performs clinical trials in over 14 specialties. He enjoys staying active in academic medicine and publishes extensively while serving as associate professor of Clinical Dermatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Bhatia earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he studied both biology and business administration. He earned his Medical Doctorate degree from Northeastern Ohio University’s College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was selected to serve as chief resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in Mohs & Reconstructive Surgery, Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery at SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, MA, where he trained under the direction of the top dermatologic surgeons from Harvard Medical School and Boston University Medical School. He also served as a clinical research fellow, participating in the clinical trials of many devices and drugs used in practice today. Dr. Bhatia continues to be active in numerous medical societies and is considered a thought-leader across several medical and surgical specialties.
